Our Program Offerings
Welcome!
Texas State is committed to meeting the educational needs of learners, who are not able to attend and participate in traditional on-campus programs and classes.
The Office of Distance and Extended Learning offers a variety of different educational options through these programs areas
Correspondence Self-Paced Study
This program area provides the opportunity to earn college-level course credit without attending regularly scheduled on-campus classes. Students can enroll in a course at any time, and the six-month or nine-month enrollment period allows students to complete course work at their own pace.
Extension Studies
This program area offers courses face-to-face, online, hybrid/blended, as academic field trips, or as part of faculty-led Study in America programs.
Study in America
This program area provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in their studies. Students are able to physically travel to a destination that holds importance in their course. Students get the experience of studying beyond the traditional classroom setting, much like studying abroad.
Continuing Education
This program area offers many continuing education opportunities. We offer a wide selection of self-paced, online career training courses through various continuing education partners, as well as face-to-face programs in collaboration with several academic departments.
All continuing education programming is available to the general public. Admission to the university is not required.
Distance Learning Degree Programs
This program area offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees via online learning, all of which are developed and taught by our university faculty. These degree programs require formal admission to the university, and applicants must meet Texas State's general admission requirements, as well as those specified by the individual degree program.
Students who complete their degree requirements via distance learning earn a degree from Texas State University. The diploma does not specify that the degree was earned in a distance learning program.
