2018 Faculty Recognitions, Promotions, and Tenure

  • Dr. Gwynne E. Ash

    Dr. Gwynne E. Ash is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Ash has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Service. Dr. Ash teaches hybrid/blended Reading (RDG) courses. She has also completed Texas State's Tech Integration workshop.

     

  • Dr. Bahram Asiabanpour

    Dr. Bahram Asiabanpour is an Associate Professor in the Ingram School of Engineering. Dr. Asiabanpour has been awarded the Excellence in Diversity Award. He has also completed Texas State's Tech Integration workshop.

    Ms. Ana Carrillo Baer

    Ms. Ana Carrillo Baer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance. Ms. Baer has been awarded the 2018 Presidential Seminar Award. She also directed Dance Intensive courses for a Study in America Program.

     

  • Dr. Jose A. Betancourt

    Dr. Jose Alberto Betancourt is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Administration. Dr. Betancourt has been awarded an Excellence in Diversity Award. He completed Texas State's Advanced Online Course Design and Development Program. He has also co-developed distance education courses for the School of Health Administration.

     

  • Dr. Glenna Billingsley

    Dr. Glenna M. Billingsley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Billingsley has been awarded Tenure. Dr. Billingsley also completed Texas State's All Online Course Workshop.

     

  • Dr. John Blair

    Dr. John Blair is a Professor in the English Department. Dr. Blair has been awarded the title of Distinguished Professor in 2018. Dr. Blair has previously taught English correspondence courses.

     

  • Dr. Tricia J. Burke

    Dr. Tricia Burke is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies. Dr. Burke has been awarded Tenure. Dr. Burke teaches hybrid/blended Communication (COMM) courses. Dr. Burke has also completed Texas State's All Online Course Workshop.

    Dr. Mary Ellan Cavitt is a Professor of Music Education and Assistant Vice President for Academic Services. Dr. Cavitt is also a new administrator in Academic Services.

  • Dr. Lorenzo R. Chapa

    Dr. Lorenzo Chapa is a Director of the Testing, Evaluation and Measurement Center, Academic Affairs. Dr. Chapa is a new administrator at Texas State. 

     

  • Dr. Nancy F. Chavkin

    Dr. Nancy F. Chavkin is a Professor in the School of Social Work. Dr. Chavkin has been awarded the title of Distinguished Professor Emeriti in 2018. Dr. Chavkin previously taught Fully Distance Education Social Work (SOWK) Courses. She also completed Texas State's Programmatic Online Course Development.

     

  • Stephanie L. Dailey

    Dr. Stephanie L. Dailey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies. Dr. Dailey has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. She teaches Fully Distance Education Communication courses and also completed Texas State's Advanced Online Course Design and Development Program. She has co-developed distance education courses for the Department of Communication Studies.

     

  • Dr. Kristy Daniel

    Dr. Kristy Daniel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology. Dr. Daniel has been awarded Tenure. 

     

  • Thomas E. Doyle II

    Dr. Thomas Earl Doyle II is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and has been awarded Tenure. Dr.Doyle previously taught Fully Distance Education Political Science (POSI) Courses. He also completed Texas State's Foundations of Online Course Design and Development Program.

  • Dr. Elizabeth Erheart

    Dr. Elizabeth Erhart is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology. Dr. Earhart has been promoted to Professor.  

     

  • Dr.Cynthia Gonzales

    Dr. Cynthia Gonzales is an Assistant Professor in the School of Music. Dr. Gonzales has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Gonzales taught Fully Distance Education Music (MU) courses and completed a number of Texas State Online Course Development Programs. She has also co-developed courses for the School of Music.

     

  • Dr. Elizabeth Hartwig

    Dr. Elizabeth Hartwig is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School of Psychology. Dr. Hartwig has been awarded Tenure and teaches fully distance education Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education (COUN) courses. She has also completed Texas State's Advanced Online Course Design and Development Program. She has co-developed distance education courses for the Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School of Psychology.

     

  • Dr. Injeong Jo

    Dr. Injeong Jo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography. Dr. Jo has been awarded Tenure. Dr. Jo teaches Fully Distance Geography (GEO) courses and completed Texas State's Foundations and Advanced Online Course Design Programs. She has also co-developed distance education courses for the Department of Geography.

     

  • Dr. Duane Knudson

    Dr. Duane Knudson is a Professor for the Department of Health and Human Performance. Dr. Knudson has been awarded the 2018 Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarly and Creative works. 

     

  • Dr. Clemens Scott Kruse

    Dr. Clemens Scott Kruse is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Administration. Dr. Kruse has been awarded Tenure. He currently teaches Two-Way Interactive Video Health Administration (HA) Courses. He also completed Texas State's Advanced Online Course Design and Development Program and has co-developed courses for the School of Health Administration.

     

  • Dr. Clarena Larrotta

    Dr. Clarena Larrotta is a Professor in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School of Psychology. Dr. Larrotta has been promoted to Professor. She teaches Multicultural Content Fully Distance Education courses and completed Texas State's Advanced Online Course Design and Development Program. She has also co-developed distance education courses for the Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School of Psychology.

     

  • Dr. Lisa K. Lloyd

    Dr. Lisa K. Lloyd is a Special Assistant to the Vice President in the Office of the President. Dr. Lloyd is a new administrator in the Office of the President. Dr. Lloyd also completed Texas State's Technology Integration program.

     

  • Dr. Ju Long

    Dr. Ju Long is Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods, McCoy College of Business Administration. Dr. Long is a new administrator in the Department of Computer Information Systems Quantitative Methods. She has also completed Texas State's Foundations of Online Course Design Program.

  • Dr. Alexander J. McLeod Jr.

    Dr. Alexander John McLeod is a Professor in the Department of Health Information Management. Dr. McLeod has been awarded Tenure. He teaches Fully Distance Education Health Information Management (HIM) courses and also completed Texas State's Programmatic Online Course Development Program.

     

  • Dr. Mayumi Moriuchi

    Dr. Mayumi Moriuchi is a Professor in the Department of Modern Languages. Dr. Moriuchi has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Moriuchi teaches Japanese through extension. 

     

  • Dr. David S. Nolan

    Dr. David S. Nolan is a Regents' Teacher in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Dr. Nolan has been awarded the Everette Swinney Faculty Senate Excellence in Teaching Award and the title of Regents’ Teacher Award. He teaches Hybrid/Blended Mass Communication (MC) courses and completed Quality Matters' "Improving Your Online Course" and Texas State's Advanced Online Course Design and Development Program. He has also co-developed distance education courses for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

     

  • Dr. Michael P. O'Malley

    Dr. Michael P. O’Malley is Dean in the College of Education. Dr. O’Malley advanced to Dean in 2018.

     

  • Dr. Patricia Pattison

    Dr. Patricia Pattison is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Finance and Economics. Dr. Pattison has been awarded the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus. She has also completed Texas State's All Online Course Workshop.

    Ms. Janell L. Pemberton is a Project Management Director in Technology Resources Administration. Ms. Pemberton is a new administrator in Technology Resources Administration. She currently directs the Project Management Office for Technology Resources.

  • Dr. Eduardo Perez

    Dr. Eduardo Perez is an Associate Professor in the Ingram School of Engineering. Dr. Perez has been awarded Tenure. 

     

  • Dr. James Petersen

    Dr. James Petersen is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Geography. Dr. Petersen has been awarded the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus. He also directed a Geography Study in America Program.

     

  • Dr. Cindy L Royal

    Dr. Cindy L. Royal is a Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Dr. Royal has been awarded the Everette Swinney Faculty Senate Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Royal teaches Hybrid/Blended Mass Communication (MC) courses and also completed Texas State's All Online Course Workshop.

     

  •   Dr. Philip J. Salem is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies. Dr. Salem has been awarded the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus. Dr. Salem also completed Texas State's Technology Integration Program.

     

  • Dr. Shaunna F. Smith

    Dr. Shaunna Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Smith has been awarded Tenure. She also completed Quality Matters' "Designing Your Online Course" workshop and Texas State online workshops.

     

  • Dr. Maria Alejandra Sorto

    Dr. Maria Alejandra Sorto is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics. Dr. Sorto has been awarded the title of Professor. She also completed Texas State's Programmatic Online Course Development Program.

     

  • Dr. Martha Kate Spradley

    Dr. Martha K. Spradley is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology. Dr. Spradley has been awarded the title of Professor. She teaches Fully Distance Education Anthropology (ANTH) Courses and also completed Quality Matters' "Designing Your Online Course."

    Dr. Skyller Danielle Walkes is an Interim Director in the Office of Disability Services. Dr. Walkes is a new administrator and has been awarded the Excellence in Diversity Award. 

     

  • Dr. Alexander White

    Dr. Alexander White is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics. Dr. White has been awarded the title of Professor. He also completed Texas State's Programmatic Online Course Development Program and has co-developed courses for the Department of Mathematics.

    Ms. Olga Mayoral Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Ms. Wilson has been awarded the Excellence in Diversity Award. She also completed Texas State's Technology Integration Program.
