A TEALS proposal should provide an explicit justification for the unit and university investment in the project. First, the proposal should explain how the design would address student learning outcomes/objectives of importance to the program. Relevant assessment data and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research should be cited supporting the potential positive impact of the use of the space. Justification can also be supported with evidence of potential impact on significant enrollment. Renovation may also be justified based on its support for faculty/discipline need for the ability to implement SoTL research for grant applications.
