This course is a study of the uses of mathematics in society today. Emphasis is on concepts rather than technical details. Prerequisite: College Readiness in Mathematics according to TSI regulations.

3 Credit Hours. 3 Lecture Contact Hours. 0 Lab Contact Hours. 

This course has an enrollment period of nine months.

  • Structure:
    • 13 chapters
    • Required work: chapter assignments, chapter tests, 2 exams
    • Students in this course may submit no more than two assignments each week.

    • Electronic textbook: Math in Our World, 4th edition, by David Sobecki and Allan Bluman. eBook edition, including Mc Graw-Hill Connect Math access code. 
    • Scientific or graphing calculator
